There is a good way to speed up your old LGA775 mainboard. Xeon server CPUs are good choices for their best prices. For HUF9,468 you can buy an X5450 xeon sever cpu and put that in your gigabyte motherboard. It was tried and works well. There are some little modifications to fit the xeon cpu (lga771) to lga775 socket motherboard. Here is a video guide:
